If you have Mediterranean or Middle Eastern roots, you may remember your parents or grandparents pulling on the end of a dried fig in order to insert an almond or a walnut into it. You can now continue this tradition, or start it! So much can be done with dried figs. We like to revisit classics, like meals that marinate in the oven or on the stove for hours. Add pieces of dried figs to your braised lamb, your cooked ham, your pork chops, your sauces, and even your roasts! Dried figs get softer when added to slow cooker recipes.
More traditionally, figs can be added to dishes with cereals, cheese plates, granola and other pastries for a softer bite!
