Ah, what an exquisite fruit the strawberry is! Strawberry jam is a popular choice, but the sugar makes it flat. The addition of passion fruit gives it the freshness of beautiful summer days.
Louis-Jacques Bleu, Les Cavistes-Wine Spectator Award Sommelier since 2014, describes this spread as follows:
Clean nose of passion fruit with subtle aromas of strawberries.
In the mouth it’s the opposite, the passion fruit gives way to the strawberry and is not far behind. It is there to support it and gives a length in the mouth to the strawberry flavor.
The jam has a very nice length on the palate and the passion fruit overcomes over time the strawberry aroma at the end of the palate. It seems that the two fruits are participating in a relay race.
Suggested pairing: baguette while still warm.
