This essential oil comes from a small tree native to the Indo-Malaysian tropics, it was then naturalized by European explorers in most of the tropical islands of the Atlantic Pacific and the Indian Ocean. The Latin name for ylang-ylang “Cananga” is quite simply a derivative of the plant’s original name in Malay (Kananga or Kénanga).
